still alive

557 questionnaires entered so far...

sent applications to japan and canada, want to send one to switzerland tomorrow.
still hard to find positions in canada, especially in french-speaking universities. don't know the titles of positions, the names of departments, etc. plus some want my cv in french. not going to happen in this life time :( i am sending stuff to all the wrong schools. i want small liberal arts colleges. i mean, if i got mcgill or ubc i woudln't say no, of course, but i don't think i can get them for now, they are too prestigeous, they are jobs older and more experienced people will get. and i like research, but not if it's more important than teaching.

there are so few positions in tesol/esl it's scary!

here, if you're ever looking for a job in the us/uk/australia/canada, THIS is by far the very best website i've ever found!! check their geographical listing!!! just unbelievable!

Oh thanks for this website ! It's great !!
Have you thought of having a look in scottish universities ? Coz... well, you know, if you'd find a job here, we could spend some saturday nights together laughing around a good table ;) And we could even watch movies together while having cats on our bellies actually (if you'd lend me one of them !) :)

kiara, i spent the whole night last night looking at scottish, irish, british and waleish (??) univeresities... and found nothing :( all they have is scientific positions, and i found ONE position for like an irish history professor, and a english professor of scottish literature, that's all. nothing in what i'm doing :( it'd be totally fun to be closer to you, and calinette would LOVE to sleep on you :)

i was shocked, though... do you even HAVE english/linguistics departments in the uk??? the good news is i found TONS of positions you could have! (too bad they didn't have the addresses of universities in iceland)!

I think we do have english/litterature departments, i don't know about linguisitic though, i've never asked actually. I'll get back to you on that one. And well, if the mountain doesn't come to Mahomet, i guess Mahomet will have to go over to cornland or wherever then ! ;)

Linguistic @ Edinburgh university: http://www.ppls.ed.ac.uk/
EFL @ Glasgow: http://www.efl.arts.gla.ac.uk/
English language @ Glasgow: http://www.arts.gla.ac.uk/SESLL/EngLang/
Linguistic @ Dundee: http://www.dundee.ac.uk/languagestudies/
Centre for linguistic research @ Aberdeen: http://www.abdn.ac.uk/langling/clr.htm
The language centre @ Aberdeen: http://www.abdn.ac.uk/languagecentre/
Have no clue if those websites can be of any help, nor if they have job offers, it just proves that linguisitic is studied up here. A lot of the programs are orientated towards gaelic and scottich studies though, which is fair enough i suppose. Oh, Aberdeen and Dundee are kind of isolated and far up north, but you know how the distances seem huge in good old Europe, and you'd probably find them next door to Edinburgh...
:)
[and i'd LOVE to come over to marple syrup land to see you !!]
