so i'm going to apply to no more than 9 more jobs: 4 next weekend and maybe 4/5 more if anything comes up later. that's the goal. i feel like staying more and more every day. and i want a good dissertation. period.

Just imagine, you could be making triple what you do now for doing the same work if you get an academic position. And you'd get more resources and respect.
yes, but life as a student is good :)
There is comfort in familiarity. But one needs to take chances to grow. Not taking chances leads to insanity (eventually).
oh it's ok, i'm insane already, no worries there! and ... about not taking chances, i'd say i'm not exactly the right person to say that to!
