a few days ago i said that hearing from someone would mean the world to me... well i did! no, no interview or job yet, but just a proof that my letters of recommendation are excellent! :) feels nice to know that! i can only hope that the rest will be just as good...

Of course, everyone has strong letters in their file if they're a serious applicant. The thing that seems to determine if you get an interview or not is the perceived "goodness of fit". How you tell if you have that or not is a mystery, especially since some ads are different from what they want, or they don't really know what they want so they write a general, or they used last year's ad since they were behind, or...
hey, you're the one who told me that i shouldn't give too many details about my search on this blog because it is public :)
i have taken a class in human resources, another one about legal issues in higher ed, and several others in faculty "management" so i know very well how the process of hiring goes and all the problems with job description vs. reality vs. the perfect match, etc. i also tried to find a job after my master's. thanks for trying to warn me, though. but don't worry, i might sound crazy on this blog but i know quite well what to be happy about and what the realities of the job search are.
