how i know a new semester is starting soon
i have no notion of time whatsoever. i don't know what day is today. and every friday is a catastrophe when i discover that it is a friday. i don't know the dates. i barely know the months. that's because i'm at home all the time and don't work outside or with people. i can spend a full week without going outside of my apartment. not even to check the mail.
but these last few days, i've started receiving a lot more mail than usual. that's a sad sign that the fall semester is starting soon. first meetings next week...
and i'm also starting to count the days, because i need to send all the translations, which i got today but must still have verified, before the semester starts. count 10 days for the mail. plus the fact that not all IEPs start at the same time. time to make all the photocopies. time for a few envelops to get lost. time for people to verify and make some changes on the questionnaires. because guess what????? the latest bad news has arrived (together with a $973 bill for my little breast affair, and that's only the first one): the pdf files for the non-script languages don't work everywhere. yep. i thought i could send those questionnaires in all the 11 languages in pdf files and have the schools print them and copy them... but no, i just sent those files to a few people and some couldn't read anything on the pdf. yep. i want to say that the shit has hit the fan, but i am sure something else will happen in just a few days. but that's pretty bad news. because it means i must make hard copies and snail mail them... 5 times 11 + 1 cover letter... times 2... times 15-20 schools. you do the math and figure out how much it will cost me in photocopies and in stamps. plus the stamps for the 500 (we hope) returned questionnaires. plus the money for the photocopies the schools will make.
got the bill for fall semester's tuition: $650. also a good sign the semester's starting soon.
i'm going to have a massage today, because my back, neck, and left arm hurt too much. should have done that a long time ago! $30 for a half hour.

It may be a stupid idea but hey... can you make an image file of the pdf files that won't be read by everybody ? That way anybody could open them and print themselves the image file. I used to scan pages and keep them as images files, and the quality of the printed copy was okay. Can't you do that ?
no stupid ideas on this blog, please!! haha, just kiddin, this is a great idea :) i'm going to try! maybe if i print the files and scan them as images... yeah... might work! and you're also free to write stupid things here too, really, that's what blogs are for ;) (and after all, if we weren't allowed to write stupid things on blogs, i probably wouldn't write here often!) thanks :)
