blah

have decided that i'm done with the teacher and admin questionnaires, so i'm now working on the student ones. don't want to write a letter to all the iep administrators asking them to let me use them, their teachers, and their students for my study. yuck.

cats driving me crazy, life too, i'm smoking again like a chimney and starting to feel really anxious about the catesol presentation in a couple of weeks and the tesol stuff too. and wondering how on earth i'll manage to survive 4 days in long beach and 6 in san antonio without a SINGLE CENT on my bank account. not good. hopefully i'll get that one credit card i asked for that should allow me to survive until... the cows come home... or money, for that matter...

blah

Seems to me I've read somewhere, that one cigarette each 3 months should be smoken in the dark with no "wise crackers" around...By the way, my english is perfect, as far my accent is concern and my written capabilities are not so bad.
Isn't there a network of french/swiss student of some sort that could help your staying in both of those cities? As an alien PhD candidate, writing her thesis, should you not receive some kind of student loans ?
Think I will try to find a soup recipe that could hold some of the ingredients...TTFN!

Actually in Canada, when I worked for the Federal government, a premium was offered to employees who spoke both languages; french and english. An interview was scheduled with a "bilinguism officer" and you were given 3 tests. First came a text comprehension, then a written composition and finally an oral exam. An evaluation was made for each test and a level was attributed. There are 5 levels in all.
P-P-P for teachers of both fr/en.
E-E-E Means you are now Exempted of all future tests regarding your comprehension, written and oral skills in the second language.
C-C-C meant you would be given an other test in 2 years to upgrade your evaluation, then came B-B-B and finally A-A-A wich was the lowest grade. On a first exam the Letter "E" was never given for the written part. Why, I really do not know. So the best you could get is E-C-E on a first try. That was my classification and in our Ministry, only 3 were given. One of them to the head of the Department, the second was a retired military officer and then me 20 years younger than they were. So I admit to being very proud of that accomplishment to a degre of conceitedness, if I may use that word.
I will find a way to send you an exerp of my accent...
TTFN is an acronym taken from the "Winnie the Pooh" stories. One of the caracters is called Tigger. When he leaves the group to go around he usually always says : TaTa For Now...
