yeahhhh
got the korean done!!! not printed yet, because i'm not leaving the house until i really HAVE to because of the price of gas. i'll go to school tomorrow, there's a lunch for ITAs, and i'll also print the arabic and chinese (hopefully) and thai (hopefully) and italian (hopefully)... and start the photocopying. the only really seriously bad situation right now is with portuguese...
got a letter from syracuse university's irb... 13 irb letters so far! called four other schools this morning to remind them that i need their letters and ask about them making the photocopies. looks like i'm going to be working with 15-20 schools in the end, which, after the summer i've just spent, is WONDERFUL!
i keep working on my letter of introduction/intent + my thesis summary. not inspired for either. i suck at making myself look good and smart. i also have very few publications and really haven't been involved in anything important (volunteer stuff). it took me a very long time to realize that it's something very important in the us. no one told me.
B. liked my chapters 1 and 2, said there'd be very little to change. i sent him my cv and some info about what i want to do when i grow up and will also meet with him tomorrow, and he's going to write me a letter of recommendation. got Dr. H, B., and T. already, now i only need margie. the book i'm reading right now, the handbook for language program administrator, is a real inspiration. it really clarifies what i want to do and the skills i need to emphasize when i write the letter of intent and also things i might want to mention at job interview and in my letters of recommendation. it also really really makes me want to work in that area.
i also finished my 002 and 108 website for the classes i'll teach this fall. i like those websites, they're nice. i'm working on planing the activities and assignments and stuff for the semester... i'm not good at that... plus there is a new edition of the textbook i'm used to using so i need to get familiar with what's in it. darnit.
good news: my sister from michigan will come visit me this weekend. she'll be able to help with sending the 5 million letters/questionnaires to all the different schools! yeah!!! plus it'll be a nice break!!!! i REALLY need a break! classes start next monday and we already have tons of meetings this weeks... and i haven't had a day off since last december!
oh, and i got an award for my online teaching portfolio again. good! small things are better than no things!
ps. forgot to say that this blog is now officially a year old... dammit, time flies!
